I love to celebrate holidays and seasons simply by adding a touch of festive to some of our everyday activities. It’s not anything grand or expensive, but it’s exciting to the boys and brings a little change to our ordinary day. Here’s a few easy ways I plan to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day this year: – spend an afternoon (or in my 3 year olds world- 20 minutes) making homemade valentines for friends and family. – a heart themed lunch- pull out the old cookie cutters and make some heart shaped sandwiches or quesadillas. Add apples or strawberries, heart shaped cheese…anything red or heart shaped. – make a treat together…I’m only do roll out sugar cookies at Christmas, but there are lots of other easy things to whip up! – Have a Valentines Day “book picnic” Inside or out, lay out a blanket and plan a special snack and read a stack of Valentine’s Day books. – Valentine’s Day breakfast. Heart shaped pancakes served with strawberries and whipped cream and sprinkles. – Valentine’s Day Movie Night. Toss some Valentine’s Day M&Ms in some popcorn and show The Peanuts Gang Valentine Movie. Make a heart shaped pizza for dinner and a movie. Any one of these would be easy—snacks, breakfast, dinner, books…all part of our regular routine, I’m just adding a little festive flair. I’m finding these little things can go a long way to improve morale around here! So there you have it! Happy Celebrating Friends! Megs
