We had a little book picnic today. What’s a book picnic you ask? It’s basically just themed books + a themed snack + a blanket. I totally made it up, I’m a dork like that. But my boys enjoy it and it adds a little something different to our day. Today’s was obviously Valentine’s themed and, as you can tell we have a lot of Valentine’s books. Want to know a secret? Scholastic book clubs are a great way to add holiday books to your collection for cheap! That’s where I’ve gotten a lot of our holiday books. They’re usually paperback, but they’re only out a few weeks so they can usually survive. Here are a few of our favorites for Valentine’s Day: Bear in Love by Daniel Pinkwater The Story of Valentine’s Day by Nancy J. Skarmeas (These books are my favorite for teaching about the history and meaning of holidays) Hedgehugs by Steve Wilson and Lucy Tapper
